Are you ready for Day 2?????????
Yeeeeaaaaaaaaaahh! The kids are :)
We woke up early and drove to Galveston. It's not a pretty town. It looks like a poor Mexican city, but it does have a beach with an ocean. It's a dirty, smelly, seaweed covered beach, but hey...it's water and that's what the kids care about. We got into town around lunch, grabbed some food and toys and headed to Stewart public beach. To rend an umbrella and two chairs it was $30 bucks! Ya, over priced for sure, but in the hot sun who doesn't end up giving in?
The kids liked the sand, but hated the salt water. They disliked the taste of it and it made them itchy. Me too if I'm being honest. One of the toys we got was a little boogie board thing and they girls were riding the waves. Mya got some water in her mouth and literally threw up in the ocean. She was so worried about her throw up and everyone seeing it. She actually started crying. Poor girl. Then we told her to pee in the water, and she was fine, haha!
Macy loved feeding her French fries to the birds once she got the idea of it all. They are vicious little birds! However, they were pretty fun to throw a fry at and watch them swarm and fight over it!
Crabs. The girls really enjoyed these and Mya became very attached. She begged me to let her take them home. I told her she couldn't take them on the cruise so she had to choose...the cruise or the crabs. She said "I'm staying here with the crabs". Yep, that happened! In the end she got me because she made me pinky promise I would get her a hermit crab when we got home if she left these ones there. Score: Mya-1, Mom-0
The boys had fun playing football in the water!
It was a fun-filled stinky day at the beach! Our clothes stunk to high heaven, and I actually did a load of laundry at the hotel.
After we showered we headed out for dinner at the Rainforest Café. It's such a fun place and a there's a lot to do during the wait to eat. We actually rode the River Adventure Ride that took you on a little raft thing through a simulated rainforest. It was pretty neat! The food was really good too.
Vooooooooolllcaaaaaaaaaannoooooooo! Yep, it was a molten chocolate volcano cake. The kids loved it because the waiters came out singing "voooollccaaaaannooo" and that has been our vacation song ever since!! :)
These kids and their tails!
The view from our hotel in Galveston...At least we were able to see the water and not just rooftops.
Another great day on vaca in the books. Tomorrow we will board our cruise ship for days of fun and sun!
